Adaptation and introduction of the proved German additional qualification "Europe assistant in crafts" in the national education system of the partner countries
Development of an accepted and regulated additional qualification with joint cross-border vocational education and training (GVA)
Network extension to further distribute and continue high-quality GVA
Nowadays initial training is only the first step to become a skilled worker. Continuous further education is a matter of course for employees in prosperous crafts companies. Increasingly skilled workers are needed who are able to support business in foreign countries and are motivated and flexible to take over special functions within the company.
In a previous Leonardo da Vinci Innovation Transfer Project (2007 - 2009) the Chamber of crafts and skilled trades Münster created together with partners from six European countries the conditions for high quality cross-border vocational education and training (GVA). The response of this offer showed that companies increasingly appreciate new possibilities for education with international experience. Initially it was planned to send only two apprentices but in case of the high demand finally ten apprentices went on practical training abroad.
The new project „Generally accepted additional qualification with joint cross-border vocational education and training in crafts and skilled trades”, in short form „ZQ GVA+“, goes ahead. Based on high-quality GVA a new additional qualification will be created. In addition to a practical training for several months abroad it contains theoretical knowledge parts, whose development will be one of the components of the project. Further more it is important to identify and assess skills which will be acquired through the stay abroad. In order to be able to attest competencies gained during a vocational training abroad, an offer is needed, which will be accepted at home and abroad with equal measures. The qualification offer will be developed with teachers of vocational schools. The new offer should be an alternative to the additional qualification „Europe Assistant in Crafts“ which has been implemented at vocational schools in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2007.
In addition a career planning concept will be developed as to be able to classify qualifications at home and abroad as career step.
The demand of the additional qualification “Europe Assistant in crafts” becomes more and more popular for companies and apprentices. In framework of the project the qualification should get transferred internationally. In France parts of the additional qualification will be tested soon within the qualification system of the Compagnons du Devoir. The ROC Midden Nederland in the Netherlands as well as the Borgund Vidaregaande Skole in Alesund/Norway is planning to offer modules of the additional qualification. The way for a possible bi-graduation in future will be smoothed by the precise wording of Learning Outcomes.
GVA structures will be improved and expanded. Therefore a network of partners at home and abroad is at the disposal. Partners of the former GVA-project, which ran from 2007 to 2009, will be involved as “senior partners” in the new “ZQ GVA +” project. New partners, so called “junior partners”, will be exposed to quality standards and already existing tools by the senior partner.
